POS, Packaging and Influencer Kits for a Heritage Bourbon Brand: Smokeye Hill

Summary

Smokeye Hill is a family-owned bourbon brand with the product and the story, but dated retail presence and no way to get kits to influencers. We coordinated the POS materials and packaging, and ran the kit assembly and distribution behind their relaunch.

The situation

Smokeye Hill had what most brands can't buy: a family story that goes back generations and an award-winning product. What they didn't have was presentation.

In premium spirits, the bottle on the shelf competes against brands spending heavily on how they look at the point of purchase. A heritage brand with dated shelf materials loses to a newer one with better signage, regardless of what's inside.

Four gaps:

Dated POS and point-of-purchase materials. Signage and shelf presence that didn't match the quality of the product behind it.

No cohesive packaging strategy. Retail, shipping and gifting each handled differently, so the brand looked different depending on where you met it.

No influencer distribution workflow. Spirits brands live on earned coverage, and there was no repeatable way to get kits into the right hands.

Inconsistent brand presentation across retail, events and online.

What we did

Coordinated POS and point-of-purchase materials. Signage, shelf talkers and tasting cards produced through outside print and production vendors, then stored and distributed for retail floor presence.

Coordinated packaging across channels. Consistent presentation for retail, shipping and influencer kits, so the brand reads the same everywhere it appears.

Brought retail and marketing collateral together. Brand assets, retail materials and inserts managed as a single cohesive set rather than pieces made at different times by different people.

Built the influencer kit program. Kit assembly with protective packaging and branded elements, prepared for shipping and run as a repeatable workflow rather than a one-off effort.

Results

Consistent premium packaging across retail, shipping and influencer channels.

Professional POS presence giving the brand retail floor impact proportional to the product.

A repeatable influencer pipeline, so coverage became a process rather than a scramble.

Cohesive brand presentation across retail, events and online.

Why this one matters

This is trade service distribution, and it's a capability few 3PLs advertise.

Most fulfillment providers move product. Getting point-of-sale materials, displays and fixtures into retail environments, and getting kits assembled and out to influencers on a campaign schedule, sits between logistics and field marketing. Warehouses usually aren't set up for it because it isn't shipping. Agencies can't physically do it.

For brands in categories where shelf presence decides the sale (spirits, beverage, CPG), that gap is expensive. Having the same team handle product, POS and kits means the pieces arrive together and match.

Questions this raises

Do you produce POS and point-of-purchase materials? Not in house. We can coordinate with print and production vendors, then store, kit and distribute the finished materials. For Smokeye Hill that covered signage, shelf talkers and tasting cards.

Can you handle packaging design? No. Design and production sit with outside vendors. We coordinate that work and handle everything physical afterward: storage, assembly, kitting and distribution.

Can you assemble and ship influencer kits? Yes. Kit assembly with protective packaging and branded elements, run as a repeatable workflow so campaigns don't require rebuilding the process each time.

What is trade service distribution? Getting point-of-sale materials, displays, racks, fixtures and coolers into retail locations at scale. It's distinct from product fulfillment, and not every 3PL handles it.

Do you work with spirits brands? We handle merchandise, POS and kit work for spirits brands. Alcohol distribution itself runs from our Orlando facility.

Why Warehouse Location Is a Margin Decision for Beverage Brands

Warehouse location plays a critical and frequently underestimated role in beverage logistics. Unlike lightweight consumer goods, beverages are heavy, typically palletized, and shipped in high volume, which means distance has an outsized effect on freight cost, delivery speed, product integrity, and retailer compliance.
